The simplest vehicle sale you'll ever see, just get a no-obligation quote today and your car will be sold within days. Our service guarantees you a buyer, and the price you're quoted will be the price you're paid, down to the last penny. Because we work with trusted Authorised Treatment Facilities nationwide, you can be safe in the knowledge that your car will be recycled in line with national regulations, meaning 95% of it will be reused in some way.
Not all vehicles are destined to go straight to the scrap pile. Just because you've run out of uses for your car doesn't mean someone else has. We'll find you a buyer who's prepared to strip your car of all its reusable parts to be sold on as spares. These parts carry extra value, and can boost your prices, too.
If you don’t think your car is suitable for scrapping just yet, see if it’s better off being salvaged instead. This means that certain parts will be saved from the car, and you’ll be offered more money!
Replacing a broken, damaged or written-off van could be vital to your business, and we’re aware of that. You’ll get exactly the same service if you’re selling a van or something even bigger. Bradford operates a Clean Air Zone that charges non-compliant vans, taxis, minibuses and HGVs a daily fee to enter — private cars and motorbikes aren't charged. If you're running an older van that doesn't meet the standard, the ongoing charge can be a good reason to scrap it rather than keep paying.
Go to the top of the page and fill in your vehicle’s registration plate and postcode. We’ll get your make and model details and find the scrap yards that cover your area.
Accept the best offer we’ve been able to find for you. It’s a no-obligation way of letting us know you’re happy with the price and want to proceed with the sale.
Our team will help arrange collection of your vehicle in Yorkshire at a convenient time. We'll be on hand to answer any of your questions and complete a bank transfer payment the same day.
Wherever in the county you’re located, Scrap Car Comparison can collect your vehicle at no extra cost – and you’ll never run into any unexpected fees. Yes, you can scrap your car across Yorkshire – we have 100% coverage across the county. We have a number of scrap yards covering your area that are able to offer the most competitive prices, free collection and great customer service.
The good news is that scrap car prices are directly linked to the weight of your car or van. And those prices reflect the national average for scrap metal in the UK. Our network of approved scrap yards in Yorkshire offer competitive prices for your vehicle. If your car is salvaged, rather than scrapped, then we’ll find the best buyer in the country offering the best price nationally.
We scrap all well known car makes and models across the country. That includes the newest Tesla electric vehicles, Reliant Robins and supercars from Ferrari. We can even scrap imports, classic cars, modified cars and carry out commercial fleet disposal. We use your registration plate to find the specific model and price according to the manufacturer’s weight of the vehicle. On the rare occasion we don’t find your make and model details we’ll escalate your quote to our specialist team to research the vehicle and find you an unbeatable price.
Yes we can scrap just about any car or van in any condition. We might need to adjust the prices we offer if there are parts of your vehicle missing. But if you have a damaged car, a car with no current MOT or even if it’s an insurance write off we can get you a price and arrange a collection.

Absolutely! Just make sure you let our team know well in advance that your car cannot roll on its own, as this will let the collector know they need to bring specific or specialist equipment out to remove your car.
Car salvaging is the process of reclaiming the vehicle so it isn’t dismantled and recycled, but instead fixed or stripped for parts. Salvaging nearly always gets you a better price for your car or van, but we do need to know more about the car’s condition. Find out how to salvage your car.
If your car is scrapped then the vehicle will be recycled, and you’ll receive a Certificate of Destruction confirming this. This means all of the components and parts will be stripped and processed in line with national environmental standards set by the Environment Agency. Nearly all of the materials will be used to build new cars in what is considered a circular automotive economy. Find out more about car recycling.
You’ll mainly need your V5C logbook to show you’re the registered keeper, plus a form of photo ID. If you don’t have your V5C to hand, let us know when you get your quote and we’ll talk you through the alternative. Any service history or spare keys are useful but not essential.
Yes, you can still scrap your car without a V5C, though it may take a little longer to arrange. We’ll ask for some alternative proof that the car is yours, such as photo ID matching the registered keeper. Give our team a call and we’ll explain exactly what’s needed for your situation.
You’ll need to settle any outstanding finance before the car can legally be scrapped, as the finance company technically owns it until the balance is cleared. Contact your finance provider first to check your settlement figure. Once the finance is cleared we can go ahead with your quote as normal.
We can often still scrap a car with no keys, though it may affect the price we’re able to offer. Let us know when you get your quote so we can find a buyer able to collect it as is. In some cases a locksmith or the manufacturer can help if you need the keys for another reason first.
Yes, if you have any full months left on your road tax when you scrap the car, the DVLA will automatically refund you once you’ve told them the vehicle has been taken off the road. The refund is calculated from the date you notify them, not the date of collection. It’s paid directly to the account or card used to originally tax the vehicle.
We handle this for you: once your car is collected, we notify the DVLA on your behalf so you don’t need to do anything further. You’ll still want to keep any confirmation we send you for your own records. This also ends your responsibility for the vehicle from that point.
Yes, once your car has been scrapped at one of our authorised treatment facilities you’ll receive a Certificate of Destruction. This confirms the vehicle has been officially and legally disposed of. Keep it safe as proof you’re no longer responsible for the car.
Just let us know as soon as you can. Collections are booked with a specific buyer, so the earlier you tell us, the easier it is to cancel cleanly. Leaving it until the driver is on the way is the one thing worth avoiding.
You do not need to be present if you are unavailable, and can nominate someone to represent you if necessary. The person representing you must be over the age of 18 with ID and proof of address. This is also the case if you are scrapping a car on behalf of someone else, such as an elderly relative or after a bereavement – although you must make this clear whilst getting a quote in this situation.
Yes you can, however you must make sure you follow the relevant processes first, otherwise it could be lost forever. You’ll need to transfer it to another vehicle or put it on retention to avoid it being lost when your car is put through the crusher.
To get the best price, use a service like ours that provides both scrap and salvage quotes. Many older or written-off cars aren’t destined for the scrap heap; some are salvaged for parts or even fully restored. Ensure you describe the car’s condition accurately, as salvage buyers often pay more. Also, check for collection fees, as our quotes always include free collection.
Yes. Once you accept a quote we lock the price in, so as long as the car matches the description you gave us, that’s the price you’ll be paid. Salvage quotes depend on the car’s condition, not just its weight. Accurately describing the vehicle ensures the highest price and prevents later adjustments. Misrepresentation can occasionally result in lower offers. However, our team will let you know and share why.
