Vehicle Recycling Crosby

For years gone by cars and other vehicles coming to the end of their lifetime would simply be scrapped at the local scrapyard, which would often mean they would be just crushed and left to rust. Fast forward to today, and old and expired cars benefit from the latest recycling techniques offered by modern technology, to the point where many parts are reused and most materials, especially scrap metal, are processed for recycling. Vehicles can be scrapped for a variety of reasons – perhaps an MOT failure where repairs are more than the value of the car, or perhaps their car has been written off following involvement in an unfortunate collision.

Prices in the scrap metal market are calculated based on a van’s weight – usually per ton. However, the value of scrap metal can fluctuate depending on how the market is performing, which will directly affect the quote you’re offered. With Scrap Car Comparison, we guarantee all of our quotes for 24 hours, so while you make up your mind, you can rest assured that your quote is safe. We scrap vans in a similar way to scrapping cars, and your van will be collected free of charge and on a day and time that suits you. Who Picks Up The Vehicles?

When you search for quotes on Scrap Car Comparison we will scan our nationwide network of trusted buyers to find the most suitable option and competitive price for your vehicle. Our buyers are all industry experts with years of knowledge and expertise so you’re always in good hands. When you have accepted a quote we will send you the details of the company who has bought your vehicle so that you know who will be collecting it from you.

Will You Organise The Collection Of My Vehicle?

Yes. We want the process to be as simple as possible for you, so our in-house experts will be on hand to guide you through the process. Once you have accepted your quote we will arrange for the buyer of your vehicle to contact you and arrange a collection on a date which is mutually convenient.

Does It Matter If I Do Not Have Any Service History?

No. Any service history is appreciated however it is not a requirement. If you do not have any service history for the vehicle please ensure you have stated this during the quote process.

Does My Car Have To Be On A Public Road?

No, however it does need to be on stable ground which is accessible for a recovery vehicle. If your car is kept elsewhere or in a particularly difficult location please ensure that we are aware so that we can advise the buyer of your vehicle to bring the right recovery equipment to retrieve it.

The Vehicle Isn’t Registered To Me, Can I Still Scrap It?

Yes. If you have the registered keeper’s permission, and a signed note to state this, in addition to photo ID and a recent utility bill.

Can You Collect Vehicles With No Wheels?

Many of our buyers can collect vehicles without wheels, however it does require a certain type of recovery vehicle. At the initial stage of the quote process when you enter your vehicle’s details, please ensure that you include all information regarding the car, including that it does not have wheels, so that we can ensure the buyer of your vehicle has the required recovery equipment. Find out more in our helpful guide.

What Do I Need On The Day Of Collection?

On the day of collection, if you have them, you will need to provide the following:

  • All sets of keys
  • Photo ID – driving license or passport
  • Provide your v5c (also known as a logbook)
  • Any service or MOT history

Find out how to prepare your car for scrapping in our useful guide.

What Do I Do If I Don’t Have A V5c?

In the event that you do not have the V5c ‘registration certificate’ you can either apply for a replacement using a V62 form or scrap the vehicle and have a Certificate Of Destruction issued. In this case the collector may request proof of identification and ownership of the vehicle. Please note that insisting your vehicle is sold for scrap may limit the amount offered as salvage vehicles tend to retrieve higher quotes. To find out more, read our helpful guide on scrapping without a v5c.

When Will I Get Paid?

All payments are put through once the vehicle has been collected, so you’ll get paid the very same day. If you have any more queries on the scrapping process, read our most frequently asked questions or get in touch with us.
