Most scrapped models
As is often the case with major car brands, it’s the small entry-level hatchback that tops our statistics for the most scrapped model. In Renault’s case this is the Clio, accounting for 36% of all Renaults scrapped over the past twelve months. The Renault Megane comes in at second with 20% of the share, while the Scenic takes first, although its share drops down to 9%. Showing how versatile the French brand is, fourth and fifth places are filled with the company’s popular commercial vehicles, the Trafic and Kangoo vans.
Most scrapped year/average age
Renault pretty much comes in bang on average with regards to the average age of a scrap car, sitting at 17 years. Almost all models come in at 16 or 17, but some more modern models, such as the Kadjar and the Zoe are scrapped around age 9 and 10 respectively, but this is counterbalanced with the Modus, Espace and Midium all lasting around 20 years before heading to the scrap pile.
