What documents do I need to scrap my car?
Your V5C logbook and some photo ID, so the collector can check the car is yours. Can’t find the logbook? You can still scrap the car as long as you can prove you’re the registered keeper. Just let us know when we call.
Can I scrap a car with finance still owing?
Not until it’s paid off. The finance company legally owns the car until then, so you’ll need to settle the balance or get their written permission first

Will I get my road tax back?
Yes, for any full calendar months left. The DVLA cancels any Direct Debit and sends the refund automatically once it knows the car has been scrapped. Don’t forget though, you’ll need to cancel your insurance yourself!
