Can I get help with paperwork?
Yes, our team will be happy to assist you with any paperwork-related issues or queries you might have. If there is any confusion about the V5C logbook or other forms, don’t stress – just let us know!
Can I keep my personal number plate?
Yes, but you need to sort it before the car goes. Apply to take the registration off the vehicle first, and either put it straight onto another car or hold it on a retention certificate. Otherwise, once the car has been collected and scrapped, the plate cannot be recovered.
Do I get a road tax refund when I scrap my car?
Yes. Once the DVLA has been told the car has been scrapped, any full months of remaining tax are refunded automatically. The refund goes to the name and address on the V5C, so make sure your details are up to date when ownership of the vehicle is transferred. You don’t need to apply for it separately.
