If your car is scrapped it will go to an Authorised Treatment Facility (ATF), which is licensed by the Environment Agency and works to the End-of-Life Vehicles Regulations. The components and parts are stripped, the vehicle is depolluted and the remaining materials are recycled. Once the car has been destroyed the ATF issues a Certificate of Destruction and notifies the DVLA, and you hand the yellow ‘sell, transfer or part-exchange your vehicle to the motor trade’ section of your V5C logbook to the collection driver.
