Yes, we can scrap just about any car or van in any condition. We might need to adjust the prices we offer if there are parts of your vehicle missing. But if you have a damaged car, a car with no current MOT or even if it’s an insurance write off we can get you a price and arrange a collection. You don’t even need your V5C logbook to get started, though having it speeds things up!
Do I get a road tax refund when I scrap my car?
Yes. The DVLA automatically refunds any full remaining months of tax once you tell them the car has been scrapped. You don’t need to claim it separately, the refund goes to the registered keeper. Just make sure your name and address on the V5C are up to date.
Can I scrap my car if it still has outstanding finance?
Not until the finance is cleared. The car legally belongs to the finance company until the agreement is settled, so you’ll need to pay off the balance or get their consent first. Once that’s sorted you’re free to scrap it with us as normal.
Do I need the keys to scrap my car?
It’s very helpful to have them, but no. Let us know you’re missing the keys and we can arrange for a collector to pick up your vehicle using specialist equipment.
Do I need to present for the collection myself?
No. You can give someone else permission to hand over the vehicle on collection day, but they will need a form of photo ID and proof of address.

Can I retain my private number plate?
Yes, but it isn’t free to do so. You’ll need to apply for the plate to be put on retention via the Gov.uk website, but there is also an £80 fee to pay. You’ll then need to fill in a form known as the V778 retention document. If done correctly, you’re able to transfer the plate onto a new motor when you purchase one.
