What documents do I need to scrap my car?
You’ll need photo ID, such as a driving licence or passport, and your V5C logbook if you have it. The collector will check these before your car is taken away. If anything’s missing, just tell our team when we call and we’ll talk you through it.
Can I scrap my car without a V5C?
Yes, you can still scrap your car without a V5C logbook. You’ll need photo ID and proof of address instead, and you’ll have to write to the DVLA yourself to tell them the car has been scrapped. Mention it when we call so the collector knows what to expect.
Can I scrap a car that still has finance on it?
Not until the finance is paid off. While money is still owed, the car belongs to the finance company, so you’ll need to settle it or get their written permission first. Once that’s sorted, you can get a quote as normal.
Can I scrap my car without the keys?
Yes, missing keys won’t stop you scrapping your car. Our collectors have the equipment to load cars without them. Just mention it when we call so the right truck is sent.
Will I get a road tax refund?

You can tell the DVLA online in a few minutes using the 11-digit reference number from your V5C. The Authorised Treatment Facility that takes your car will also update the DVLA when it issues the Certificate of Destruction. Once that’s done, you’re no longer responsible for the car.
Can I keep my private number plate?
Yes, but you will need to apply for it to be placed on retention through the DVLA. Once this is done, you can scrap the car. The plate will be transferable to another vehicle once you purchase one.
