How Soon Can You Collect My Car?
Once you have accepted a quote for your vehicle we will arrange for the collector to contact you directly. This can take up to 48 hours but is typically the same/next day. When the buyer contacts you they will discuss collection options and ensure that the collection of your vehicle will be scheduled on a day which is suitable for you both. Depending on the collector’s availability this can take anywhere from a few hours to a few days, however our collectors aim to collect the vehicle as soon as possible and will let you know if there are any unusual delays.
What Do I Need On The Day Of Collection?
On the day of collection, if you have them, you will need to provide the following:
- All sets of keys
- Photo ID – driving license or passport
- Provide your v5c (also known as a logbook)
- Any service or MOT history
I Don’t Have The Keys For My Car?
That’s ok, however if you don’t have the vehicle’s car keys please ensure that you let us know at the initial quote stage so that we can ensure the buyers we find for you have the correct recovery equipment to retrieve your vehicle. Find out more on scrapping without keys in our helpful guide.
Can You Collect Vehicles With No Wheels?
Many of our buyers can collect vehicles without wheels, however it does require a certain type of recovery vehicle. At the initial stage of the quote process when you enter your vehicle’s details, please ensure that you include all information regarding the car, including that it does not have wheels, so that we can ensure the buyer of your vehicle has the required recovery equipment. Find out more in our helpful guide.
My Car Is Not At My Home Address, Can You Still Collect?
That’s ok! Our collectors can pick up vehicles from a multitude of locations. Just be sure to enter the vehicle’s postcode at the quote stage when you enter your vehicle’s details so that we can ensure that we contact relevant buyers who operate in your vehicle’s location.
What Do I Do If I Don’t Have A V5c?
In the event that you do not have the V5c ‘registration certificate’ you can either apply for a replacement using a V62 form or scrap the vehicle and have a Certificate Of Destruction issued. In this case the collector may request proof of identification and ownership of the vehicle. Please note that insisting your vehicle is sold for scrap may limit the amount offered as salvage vehicles tend to retrieve higher quotes. To find out more, read our helpful guide on scrapping without a v5c.
My Car is in Poor Condition, Can You Take it?
Yes! Our comparison service searches nationwide to find the best price for your vehicle no matter what the vehicle’s condition. Simply fill out the above form, making sure you include all of the information regarding your vehicle, and we’ll search our nationwide network to find the most suitable buyer for you!
Can I Keep My Personalised Plates?
If you have personalised plates on your vehicle you can absolutely still keep them, however you will need to transfer the vehicle registration number over to another vehicle or onto a Retention Document, before the vehicle is taken to an ATF to be scrapped. If this is not done and the vehicle is destroyed then the vehicle registration number will be destroyed and you will be unable to use it on another vehicle. To transfer or retain ownership of the vehicle’s registration number you will need to apply at your closest local DVLA office.
Can I Scrap More Than One Vehicle At A Time?
Yes as long as you have relevant paperwork. If you need to dispose of multiple vehicles you may also be interested in our fleet disposal services.
When Will I Get Paid?
All payments are put through once the vehicle has been collected, so you’ll get paid the very same day. If you have any more queries on the scrapping process, read our most frequently asked questions or get in touch with us.
