Yes, if your car is scrapped you’ll get a Certificate of Destruction from the Authorised Treatment Facility, usually within seven days. It’s your proof the car has been legally scrapped. If your car is sold for salvage instead, it’s treated as a normal sale, so there’s no certificate.
Do I have to be there for the collection?
You do not need to be present if you are unavailable, and can nominate someone to represent you if necessary. The person representing you must be over the age of 18 with ID and proof of address.
What do I do after the collection?
Once your car has been collected remember to cancel any insurance and breakdown cover you have for it. Failing to do so will mean you may be paying for a car you no longer own. You should also keep a look out for your DVLA road tax refund.
Can I keep my personalised number plate?
