Don’t let our name fool you, we do more than just scrapping. Here’s a quick snapshot of some of our services:
For those cars that are far too damaged for any other option than scrap. Our service will get your car sold and out of your hair quickly and easily, with the money in your account as soon as it’s gone.
Some cars may look like they’re only worthy for scrap, but quite often they could be salvageable. Our experts will guide you through the entire process.
We know how hard it can be to sell a car that you know has damage, having to repeat yourself to every prospective buyer. Give us the details just once, and we’ll have it sold in days, rather than the weeks or months it might take you.
Just because you drive something bigger doesn’t mean we can’t help you. We might be called Scrap Car Comparison, but we can help sell anything from vans to trucks and even buses or coaches. Because of their size, these vehicles typically fetch more cash for our customers than cars! Just give our team a call and we’ll help you no matter what.
Go to the top of the page and fill in your vehicle's registration plate and postcode. We'll get your make and model details and find the scrap yards who cover your area.
Accept the best offer we've been able to find for you. It's a no obligation way of letting us know you're happy with the price and want to proceed with the sale.
Our team will help arrange collection of your vehicle in Wales at a convenient time. We’ll be on hand to answer any of your questions and complete a bank transfer the same day. Please note that cash payments are not allow since the implementation of the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013.
At Scrap Car Comparison, we’re committed to providing complete coverage across Wales, making it easy to scrap your vehicle wherever you’re located. We cover every Welsh postcode area, so whether you’re in Swansea, Newport, Wrexham, or Aberystwyth, you can rely on us for a fast and straightforward service. Our trusted network of scrap collectors operates throughout the whole of Wales, enabling us to compare offers and secure the highest possible price for your scrap car. Wherever possible, we’ll arrange for a local Authorised Treatment Facility (ATF) to handle your vehicle, supporting the Welsh economy while making the collection process as simple and convenient as possible.
Since we help thousands of customers scrap their vehicles every month, we can aggregate trends that we see in your area.
Yes, you can scrap your car across Wales – we have 100% coverage across the country. We have a number of scrap yards covering your area that are able to offer the most competitive prices, free collection and great customer service.
The good news is that scrap car prices are directly linked to the weight of your car or van. And those prices reflect the national average for scrap metal in the UK. Our network of approved scrap yards in Wales offer competitive prices for your vehicle. If your car is salvaged, rather than scrapped, then we’ll find the best buyer in the country offering the best price nationally.
We scrap all well known car makes and models across the country. That includes the newest Tesla electric vehicles, Reliant Robins and supercars from Ferrari. We can even scrap imports, classic cars, modified cars and carry out commercial fleet disposal. We use your registration plate to find the specific model and price according to the manufacturer’s weight of the vehicle. On the rare occasion we don’t find your make and model details we’ll escalate your quote to our specialist team to research the vehicle and find you an unbeatable price.
Yes, we can scrap just about any car or van in any condition. We might need to adjust the prices we offer if there are parts of your vehicle missing. But if you have a damaged car, a car with no current MOT or even if it’s an insurance write off we can get you a price and arrange a collection, and we can usually still help if the V5C logbook has gone missing.
Car salvaging is the process of reclaiming the vehicle so it isn’t dismantled and recycled, but instead fixed or stripped for parts. Salvaging nearly always gets you a better price for your car or van, but we do need to know more about the car’s condition.
If your car is scrapped then the vehicle will be depolluted and recycled. This means all of the components and parts will be stripped and processed in line with national environmental standards. Nearly all of the materials will be used to build new cars in what is considered a circular automotive economy. You’ll get a Certificate of Destruction once it’s done, and the DVLA is told the car is off the road so it’s no longer your responsibility.
You’ll normally need the V5C logbook, photo ID and proof of your address. The collection agent checks these when they arrive, so have them ready. If something is missing, tell our team when you give your car’s details and they’ll talk you through what else will do
Yes, in most cases. As long as you can show you’re the registered keeper, the sale can still go ahead. You’ll need photo ID and proof of address instead, and it can take a little longer. Let our team know when you call so it can be sorted before collection day
You’ll need to settle the finance, or get written permission from the finance company, before the car can be scrapped. The lender has a legal interest in the vehicle until the agreement ends. Contact them for a settlement figure first, then come back to us for your quote.
That’s fine, we buy cars with no keys. Just say so when you give us the details of your car so the offer is accurate and the collection agent turns up with the right kit. Missing keys won’t stop the collection going ahead.
Yes. Once the DVLA is told the car has been scrapped, any full months of tax left on it are refunded automatically. The cheque goes to the name and address on the V5C. You’ll also want to cancel your direct debit if you pay monthly. And don’t forget to cancel your car insurance payments too!
Yes, but it will cost you. You’ll need to apply for the plate to be put on retention via the Gov.uk website, then you’ll have to pay a fee (£80 at the time of writing) and fill in a form known as the V778 retention document. Once everything is processed, you’re able to transfer the plate onto your new vehicle.
You don’t need to SORN your car in order to scrap it, but you can if you want to. Just remember that if your vehicle is SORN registered, it must be kept off any kind of public roadway.
To get the best price, use a service like ours that provides both scrap and salvage quotes. Many older or written-off cars aren't destined for the scrap heap; some are salvaged for parts or even fully restored. Ensure you describe the car's condition accurately, as salvage buyers often pay more. Also, check for collection fees, as our quotes always include free collection.
Yes. Once you accept a quote we lock the price in, so as long as the car matches the description you gave us, that's the price you'll be paid. Salvage quotes depend on the car's condition, not just its weight. Accurately describing the vehicle ensures the highest price and prevents later adjustments. Misrepresentation can occasionally result in lower offers, however our team will let you know and share why.
