What will happen to my scrap car?
If your car is scrapped then the vehicle will be recycled. This means all of the components and parts will be stripped and processed in line with national environmental standards in a process called ‘depollution’. Nearly all of the materials will be used to build new cars in what is considered a circular automotive economy. Can I scrap my car without a V5C logbook?
Yes. If your logbook is missing, we can usually still collect and scrap your car. You’ll normally need photo ID and proof of address to confirm ownership, and we’ll explain exactly what’s accepted before collection. It’s worth telling us when you get your quote so the collection can be arranged smoothly.
Do I get a road tax refund when I scrap my car?
Yes. The DVLA automatically refunds any full remaining months of tax once you tell them the car has been scrapped. You don’t need to claim it separately, the refund goes to the registered keeper. Just make sure your name and address on the V5C are up to date.
Can someone else be present for the collection of my car?
