Our core service, and the easiest vehicle sale you'll have ever seen in your entire life. Get a quote and we'll find you a price in seconds. Our extensive network means we can facilitate a sale of a scrap vehicle within 72 hours.
Not all vehicles are destined to go straight to the scrap pile. Just because you've run out of uses for your car doesn't mean someone else has. We'll find you a buyer who's prepared to strip your car of all its reusable parts to be sold on as spares. These parts carry extra value, and can boost your prices, too.
Even if your car is a bit battered or broken you can still get a great price for it. Our buyers are on hand looking for cars just like yours, in varying conditions. We'll link you with one of these specialists who'll happily come and get your car whatever's wrong with it. It's much easier than trying to sell a damaged vehicle privately.
Size doesn't matter at Scrap Car Comparison. We'll get you a great price for your car no matter what you're trying to sell. We've helped get offers for vans, trucks and even buses. We can also help you sell a fleet of vehicles if you're modernising your entire garage. Just give us a call and we'll get you sorted just as quick as if you were selling a small hatchback.
Simply put your details into our online price generator to see your instant scrap offers. These will be calculated by taking the weight of your vehicle and the current rate for scrap metal nationwide. You can choose to accept this offer there and then, but we'll call you anyway to discuss any further options that may be available to you.
Our call is your opportunity to get an even bigger price for your car. We'll ask you to describe its current condition, and it's important that you give as much detail as possible. Every piece of information we have helps us tailor the quote to your exact situation. This is where we'll check to see if you could get more by reclassifying the car as salvage. Once you're happy, it's up to you to accept the offer and we'll move onto the next stage. At this point it's a good idea to ensure that all personal belongings have been removed from the car to ensure the collection can go as quickly and smoothly as possible.
With an offer now accepted, we'll lock that price in to ensure you get every penny. It's important to remember that this price does remain subject to inspection, and any misrepresentation will only result in a renegotiation at collection if the car does not match what you described. Once the collector is happy, they’ll load up the car, take it away and the money will be transferred directly into your bank account by bank transfer. Cash payment is not available in line with the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013. We'll also work with you to ensure the DVLA is informed that you’ve sold the car for scrap so their records are updated and your responsibility for the vehicle ends.
No matter what part of Bristol you call home, from the thriving centre to the sleepy suburbs, Scrap Car Comparison can collect your vehicle at no extra cost – and you’ll never run into any unexpected fees. You’ll be paid on the very same day your vehicle is taken away knowing you’ve found the best price. Find out more about scrap and salvage vehicle collection in and around Bristol:
Our scrap car collection will guarantee pickups from BS1 postcodes in the heart of the city right out to the BS40 postcodes of Chew Valley and even further afield in the surrounding counties. With the M4 motorway running right past the city, and close proximity to cities like Bath, Newport and Cardiff, we have the most professional car scrappers competing for your vehicle.
Bristol also runs a charging Clean Air Zone in the city centre, so if your older car no longer meets the emissions standards, scrapping it can work out simpler and cheaper than paying the daily charge or trying to upgrade. Broadly speaking, petrol vehicles from before 2006 and diesel-powered vehicles up to 2015 are non-compliant with the CAZ regulations.
Where possible we will arrange for a local Bristolian authorised scrap car specialist (ATF) to scrap your car in accordance with local and national laws or guidelines.

The good news is that scrap car prices are directly linked to the weight of your car or van. And those prices reflect the national average for scrap metal in the UK. Our network of approved scrap yards in the South West offer competitive prices for your vehicle. If your car is salvaged, rather than scrapped, then we’ll find the best buyer in the country offering the best price nationally.
We scrap all well known car makes and models across the country. That includes the newest Tesla electric vehicles, Reliant Robins and supercars from Ferrari. We can even scrap imports, classic cars, modified cars and carry out commercial fleet disposal. We use your registration plate to find the specific model and price according to the manufacturer’s weight of the vehicle. On the rare occasion we don’t find your make and model details we’ll escalate your quote to our specialist team to research the vehicle and find you an unbeatable price.
Yes we can scrap just about any car or van in any condition. We might need to adjust the prices we offer if there are parts of your vehicle missing. But if you have a damaged car, a car with no current MOT or even if it’s an insurance write off we can get you a price and arrange a collection.
Car salvaging is the process of reclaiming the vehicle so it isn’t dismantled and recycled, but instead fixed or stripped for parts. Salvaging nearly always gets you a better price for your car or van, but we do need to know more about the car’s condition.
If your car is scrapped then the vehicle will be depolluted (which means its fluids and hazardous parts are removed) and then recycled. Around 95% of a car will be reused when going through the recycling process, with nearly all of the materials being used to build new cars in what is considered a circular automotive economy. Once your car has been processed at an Authorised Treatment Facility, a Certificate of Destruction will be issued confirming it has been scrapped legally and that you’re no longer responsible for it.
Yes. We arrange free collection right across Bristol and the surrounding area, from the city centre out to the BS40 postcodes, and you’ll be paid on the same day your car is taken away. Just enter your registration and postcode to get an instant quote.
Ideally you’ll have your V5C logbook plus photo ID and proof of address for whoever’s present at collection. If you’ve lost the V5C, though, you can still scrap it. Just flag that it’s missing, along with any other major damages or issues, when you accept your quote and the collection team will confirm what alternative proof they need. It may take slightly longer to process without a V5C.
Yes. Once the DVLA has been informed that the car has been sold for scrap, an automatic refund of any full remaining months of road tax will be processed. The refund goes to the name and address on the V5C, so make sure your details are up to date. If you pay by direct debit, you’ll need to ensure you cancel this yourself. You’ll also want to make sure you remember to cancel any vehicle insurance the car may have had at the time of scrapping.
Any outstanding finance must be cleared before the car can be scrapped, as the finance company still has a legal interest in it. If there’s a balance left, you’ll need to contact your lender to arrange a settlement or get their written consent for the car to be scrapped. We can pick things up once that’s sorted.
No. Someone else can hand the car over on your behalf, as long as they’re over 18 and have the keys, photo ID and proof of address. If this is the case for your collection, then please do let us know in advance so the collection goes smoothly.
Of course you can, but you’ll have to make sure it is removed before you go through the quote process. You can either place the registration on retention or transfer it to another vehicle. If you do leave the registration on the car and it is scrapped, then the registration will be lost forever, so if it’s an important number place to you, then it’s important you remove it first.
Absolutely, and there’s no need to un-SORN it, either! If your car has been declared SORN and kept off the road, then you won’t even need to re-tax it before it is taken away. As your car will be collected from its current location off the road, there is no requirement for it to be taxed as it will go straight onto the back of the collection truck. However, it’s worth mentioning this to our team when you get a quote, as they may need to arrange specific equipment for removing a car that’s been declared off the road.
Many older or written-off cars aren’t destined for the scrap heap. Some are salvaged for parts or even fully restored. To get the best price, use a service like ours that provides both scrap and salvage quotes. Ensure you describe the car’s condition accurately, as salvage buyers often pay more. Also, check for collection fees—our quotes always include free collection.
But the single most important factor to getting the very best price for your scrap car is to speak directly with one of our advisors! After you accept a quote online, we'll give you a call to confirm details and schedule collection. Use this call to share any info that might boost your offer and get the highest payout possible.
Salvage quotes depend on the car’s condition, not just its weight. Accurately describing the vehicle ensures the highest price and prevents later adjustments. Misrepresentation can result in lower offers.
