Jeep Scrappage Scheme

Currently there is no official Jeep scrappage scheme active. The previous scrappage scheme ended on 30/10/17 and has not been restarted. Jeep drivers looking to scrap their cars or vans are recommended to compare prices to maximise the payout from scrapping their vehicle.

What is the Jeep scrappage scheme?

Jeep’s scrappage scheme was launched as part of the wider Fiat Chrysler Automobiles scheme, which was aimed at boosting the sales figures for the group in the late 2010s by attempting to recreate the success found in the government-backed scrappage incentive of 2009. Any vehicle built to Euro 4 emissions standards or earlier and registered before October 2009 was eligible to be traded in. In return, customers were offered a £3,500 discount on a new Renegade.

Is the Jeep scrappage scheme coming back?

There has been no indication that the Jeep scrappage scheme will be returning any time soon, but if there was to be a return it would be expected to be in line with brands such as Alfa Romeo, Citroen, Fiat, Peugeot, Vauxhall and all others which fall under the Stellantis banner.

How did the scrappage scheme work?

Unlike other manufacturers, Jeep offered savings on just one model of its range – the Renegade. In order to benefit from savings of up to £3,500, customers had to trade-in a vehicle that was built and registered on or before the 30th September 2009 and was either Euro 4 emissions standards or earlier. Those using the scheme had to have owned their previous car for at least six months before taking the offer.

Petrol Cars:

There was no restriction on the fuel type that could be traded, as the scheme was solely based on the age of cars being scrapped.

Diesel Cars:

There was no restriction on the fuel type that could be traded, as the scheme was solely based on the age of cars being scrapped.

Electric Cars:

It was unlikely that you would be trading in an electric car due to the age restrictions on eligible cars, and at the time of the scheme Jeep offered no electric vehicles.

Do I qualify for a Scrappage Scheme Offer?

While Jeep’s scheme may no longer be offered, that doesn’t mean that you can’t make the most of one that does exist. Three location-based scrappage schemes are currently in operations, and their eligibility rules and regulations are explained below:

  • London – available to London residents with a vehicle that is not ULEZ compliant
  • Birmingham – available to those who work 18 hours a week or more within the Birmingham CAZ, who earn £30,000 a year or less and have owned a non-compliant vehicle since 10 September 2018
  • Scotland – Available to owners of non-compliant vehicles who live within a 20km radius of a Scottish Low Emission Zone
