A member of one of the largest automotive families on the market, Czech brand Skoda is a common sight on British roads. Here’s what we’ve found about those Skodas readying for one final journey to the scrap yard.
Most scrapped models
Almost half of all Skodas scrapped in the past twelve months are, unsurprisingly given how numerous they are on the roads in general, the Fabia, clocking in at 47%. Next up is the slightly larger Octavia, which accounts for 34% of all Skodas scrapped in the past year. With the Fabia and Octavia accounting over three quarters of all the Skodas we saw, there’s no surprise there’s a huge drop-off to the third most common vehicle, the Superb, which only had a share of 5%.
Most scrapped year/average age
According to our data, Skodas are not the car to choose if you’re looking for a car to last a significant amount of time. On average, we find that Skodas are scrapped around 13 years of age, three years below the national average of 16. However, it’s worth noting that these figures are skewed by new models such as the Kodiaq and Karoq (released in 2016 and 2017 respectively) and the Enyaq, launched in 2020. The more common models, such as the Fabia and Octavia are much more in line with the average, lasting around 16-17 years.
