Peugeot Scrap Trends
Peugeot is one of the most popular brands on the roads today, despite it’s somewhat rocky reputation (particularly of those who remember the famous Top Gear sketch). The truth is Peugeots seem to be quite hardy when looking at the average ages below. Here’s what we found:
Most scrapped models
One of the most popular cars among young drivers, its no surprise that the 207 is the top of our figures, accounting for 22% of all Peugeots we saw. That’s not to say young drivers in particular are the problem, but the more cars that are on the road, the more we’re going to see at the end of their usable lives. The 308 came in at second, accounting for 12%, while the 208 – the successor to the 207 – comes in at third with 11%, despite only joining the market in 2012.
Most scrapped year/average age
We see a real mix of ages when looking at Peugeots mostly due to the hugely popular nature of its models and its practice of replacing older models with new equivalents, rather than just facelifting a specific model, with the 206, 207 and 208 being prime examples. The average age we see is 17, which is fairly standard. The 208, for example, clocks in at just 12 years old – understandable given the model is only 15 at time of writing – while the 206 has an average age of 22, which again tracks with the fact it was replaced by the 207 in 2006. The oldest car, on average, we saw was, ironically, the 205 which reached an impressive 35 on average.
