Common Problems We’ve Seen With Fiat
| Coolant leaks from radiator expansion bottle housing cracking | If your Fiat is struggling to keep its fluid where it needs to go, you could end up with it expiring prematurely. We'll find you a buyer even if your car has totally given up. |
| Timing cover seals leaking on 1.2 and TwinAir engines | Engine problems are rarely cheap unless caught early. If the cost of fixing yours has pushed it beyond being economic to repair, we're here to help. |
Fiat Scrap Trends
Italian brands often have the reputation for looks over reliability, and our data does little to dispel that stereotype, as you can see below:
Most scrapped models
A third of all Fiats we helped scrap last year were Fiat 500s, showing just how popular the small car is. The Grande Punto came in second, narrowly behind the 500 at 31% of all Fiats, while the Panda completed the top three with 14%. The next three positions combined also counted for 14% of all Fiats, and were the three vans – the Doblo, Ducato and Scudo.
Most scrapped year/average age
Fiat comes in bang on the national average with scrap cars aging 16 years on average. The Fiat 500 actually comes in slightly short of this figure, coming through our system at the age of 14 on average, while the Seicento is the most reliable according to our data, with cars surviving until they’re 25 years old.

Is any car too damaged to scrap?
Definitely not! Your damaged, broken, or failed MOT car can be scrapped. Get an instant quote and arrange collection for your car in the UK – even if it’s a non-runner!
What's the difference between scrap and salvage?
When a car is salvaged, the buyer will break it apart and retrieve any surviving parts from inside that can be resold or reused in other vehicles. Salvage cars are usually worth more than scrap. Scrap vehicles are simply crushed and their materials are then recycled.
What happens to scrapped cars?
When you sell your car as scrap, it will be recycled by one of our licensed end-of-life vehicle professionals. They will dispose of your car safely and legally, ensuring nothing goes to waste.
How much are scrap vehicles worth in the UK?
Scrap Car Comparison finds prices that are based on the average value of scrap metal in the UK. This is because the scrap value of a car is mostly influenced by its overall weight. Heavier vehicles are made from more metal. There are other, more complex factors involved, but weight is the big one.
