Most scrapped models
The most scrapped BMW we’ve seen over the past 12 months was the popular 3-Series, accounting for 37% of the BMWs we saw. The 1-Series was next at 32%, while the 5-Series came in third, but only accounted for 10% of the BMWs that came through our books.
Most scrapped year/average age
Our data suggests that BMWs will last, on average, for 14 years. This is an average of all BMW vehicles we’ve helped scrap, though, and includes electric vehicles of which many are still quite young. The long-standing models such as the 1, 3 and 5-Series tended to last on average 16-18 years, which is much closer to the national average. Larger SUVs like the X3 or X5 also gave an average of 18 years, suggesting they have good longevity compared to other options.
