One of the most recognisable brands of all time, even Porsches get scrapped. Here’s what we’ve found out when crunching the numbers from the past 12 months of Porsches we’ve helped.
Most scrapped models
Almost two thirds of all Porsches we’ve sold as scrap in the past year have been the Cayenne, which isn’t surprising given it’s effectively an entry-level for the German performance brand. Sitting on 63% of the share, it has almost three times that of the second most common model, the Boxster, which accounted for 24% of the Porsches we scrapped. The Macan SUV is next up, with just 5% of the share of Porsches, with the 911 and the Panamera sweep up the rest of the figures.
Most scrapped year/average age
Interestingly, Porsches seems to last slightly longer than the national average, clocking it around 17 years by the time they’re scrapped with an average mileage of over 100,000 miles. That average age would also be much higher had it not been for the relatively new Macan model, which brings the average down, only averaging 8 itself. The Panamera also only clocks in at 12, while the Cayenne, 911 and Boxster all last, on average, over 20 years.
