Most scrapped models
Mercedes goes against the grain when it comes to the most scrapped model, with many manufacturers seeing their entry-level city cars and hatchbacks at the top of the pile. For Mercedes, however, the C-Class clocks in with 28% of the share of all scrapped Mercedes over the past 12 months. The A-Class comes in second with 19%, while the E-Class takes 10% in third. The most common Mercedes van we saw was the Sprinter, coming in fifth and accounting for 6% of all vehicles.
Most scrapped year/average age
Mercedes shows that you get quality with the extra price tag of the luxury German brand, with its average age clocking in above the national average at 19. More modern cars such as the GLA and GLC bring that average down a bit with their average of 9, but that’s to be expected with more modern models. Helping keep that average up high, though, are the CLK, SLK and SL, all of which last on average over 20 years. The 190 and the Compact both bring impressive numbers as they come into our system at an average age over 35 years old.
