Great company … they do exactly as they promise!”

Scrappage FAQsScrap Yard FAQs

What Happens To My Car?

Once you have accepted a quote for your vehicle the buyer will contact you to arrange the collection of your vehicle. What happens once your vehicle is collected will depend on the reason why the vehicle was bought. The vehicle may have been purchased to be dismantled and scrapped at an Authorised Treatment Facility (ATF), or it may have been bought for salvageable parts; in which case parts of your car will be taken apart and fixed, or used to return another vehicle to the road. This guide explains more about what happens to your scrap vehicle.

Are Your Prices Guaranteed?

Yes, subject to inspection. All of our prices are guaranteed, subject to inspection, upon receipt of a signed purchase agreement. This means that as long as the vehicle has been described accurately during the quotation stage you will receive the exact amount which you were quoted.

What Days Do You Collect?

Due to the expansive network of buyers we have, there are no set working hours for collection as each company differs from one another. All of the buyers on our network endeavour to retrieve a vehicle at a time which is mutually convenient so if you have particular requirements or limitations be sure to let the buyer of your vehicle know

How Can I Get My Insurance Reimbursed?

If your vehicle has been declared off the road and a Statutory Off Road Notification has been issued, or once your vehicle has been collected, you can cancel your insurance and if you pay your insurance annually you may be eligible for a reimbursement. In order to find out if you are eligible you will need to contact your insurer directly, ensuring you have your policy number to hand when doing so.

What Do I Need On The Day Of Collection?

On the day of collection, if you have them, you will need to provide the following:

  • All sets of keys
  • Photo ID – driving license or passport
  • Provide your v5c (also known as a logbook)
  • Any service or MOT history

Can You Collect Vehicles With No Wheels?

Many of our buyers can collect vehicles without wheels, however it does require a certain type of recovery vehicle. At the initial stage of the quote process when you enter your vehicle’s details, please ensure that you include all information regarding the car, including that it does not have wheels, so that we can ensure the buyer of your vehicle has the required recovery equipment. Find out more in our helpful guide.

What Do I Do If I Don’t Have A V5c?

In the event that you do not have the V5c ‘registration certificate’ you can either apply for a replacement using a V62 form or scrap the vehicle and have a Certificate Of Destruction issued. In this case the collector may request proof of identification and ownership of the vehicle. Please note that insisting your vehicle is sold for scrap may limit the amount offered as salvage vehicles tend to retrieve higher quotes. To find out more, read our helpful guide on scrapping without a v5c.

My Car Is Not At My Home Address, Can You Still Collect?

That’s ok! Our collectors can pick up vehicles from a multitude of locations. Just be sure to enter the vehicle’s postcode at the quote stage when you enter your vehicle’s details so that we can ensure that we contact relevant buyers who operate in your vehicle’s location.

I Have Taken Parts Off My Vehicle, Can You Still Scrap?

Removing parts off your vehicle may significantly affect the price in which you are quoted as it means your car may only be suitable for scrap, and not salvage purposes. However your vehicle will still be worth something. In order to find out what the value of your vehicle is, simply fill out the above form with your vehicle’s details and we will search our nationwide network of buyers for you to find the most suitable buyer and price for you.

  • Photo ID
  • V5C registration document
  • Any vehicle history (old MOTs, receipts, service history etc)

Does My Car Need To Have A Valid Insurance Policy?

No. All of our buyers use professional recovery vehicles and so no tax, insurance or MOT is required for them to retrieve your vehicle. Please be aware that if your vehicle is parked on a public road, it will need to be insured up to the day of collection. If you would like your vehicle removed safely and legally, the buyers on our network can arrange this for you whilst you get paid in the process!
