Hyundai may now have the reputation of a good, well-built and good value Korean brand of car, but that quality wasn’t always there. If you’ve got an older Hyundai in your driveway, there’s a strong chance that sooner or later running costs or maintenance bills will soon start outweighing your vehicle’s value. That’s where Scrap Car Comparison comes in. We scrap based on car weight rather than mechanical issues – ensuring you a fair and transparent price every time.

Grey Hyundai Getz with crash damage

This 2010 Hyundai Getz suffered crash damage that made the car uneconomical to fix. The driver’s insurer declared this Getz a write off and it was scrapped.

Fortunately for the customer they weren’t injured in the crash and they were able to scrap their car easily with us.

Even with crash damage we were able to get this customer the maximum amount possible for their vehicle.

How we price your Hyundai model

When you get a quote with us we’ll use your registration plate to find all of the relevant details; model, year manufactured, weight, MOT status, estimated mileage. This gives us a good idea of whether your car needs to be scrapped or could be salvaged. If your Hyundai is deemed necessary to be scrapped then we’ll check prices from the best scrap yards in your area. They’ll bid for your car based on its weight rather than condition, mileage or existing faults.

In a lot of cases we are able to salvage your car which gives you a bigger cash payment than simply scrapping it. Salvaging means finding a buyer from your car from across the UK who will either attempt to fix it or strip it for parts. Whereas scrap prices are based on your vehicle’s weight, salvage prices are based on overall condition, mileage, any existing damage and ease of repair. We accept:

Did you know: Hyundai owns three brands

Hyundai not only has its own brand of vehicles, but also owns a third of fellow Korean manufacturer, Kia. In 2008, the company expanded by launching its luxury sub-brand, Genesis.

Hyundai scrap trends

Known now as a hugely reliable brand – backed up by its seven year warranty – the thought of a Hyundai being a non-runner is somewhat strange. However, when things do go wrong with your Hyundai, Scrap Car Comparison is here for you. Here’s some interesting themes we’ve seen from scrapping thousands of Hyundai cars…

Most scrapped models: We mostly saw the i10 (15% of all scrapped models), a popular supermini of choice for young drivers lookign to get their first car. We see a lot of i30 models too (14%), a family hatchback that has become known in recent years for winning the British Touring Car Championship. The Getz, which was replaced by the i20 in 2011, is also seen prominently.

Most scrapped year: Our most scrapped years are 2009, 2006 and 2010. This suggests that Hyundai actually has lower average reliability as most cars scrapped last year were originally registered in 2007.

Most scrapped locations: Popular areas where there’s a high concentration of Hyundai drivers are Lancashire, the West Midlands, Hampshire and Essex.
