Since its formation as a local parent’s support group over 50 years ago, the DSA has developed into a highly regarded national charity providing support to people who have Down’s syndrome, and their families and carers, throughout their lives.
The DSA provide important advocacy and support to parents and carers when they need it:
‘I would just like to say a massive thank you for your amazing help; I really appreciate everything that you have done for us as a family. Times are difficult for all at the moment but when you have a child with additional needs things can feel so much more difficult. I am just doing my best as a mum and doing everything in my power to ensure my son gets a homely environment that will help with his development and every day life, I can only jump certain hurdles with the support from people like yourself and your team – you’re all amazing. Thank you beyond words!’
Alongside providing vital services, information, advice, support and resources, the DSA is committed to amplifying the voices of our members.
People who have Down’s syndrome are experts by experience. They know what life is like for them and the DSA is committed to getting their opinions, views and experiences heard at this time of significant change and challenge.
With your help the DSA can continue to walk alongside people who have Down’s syndrome and their families throughout their lives, from birth to old age.
You can choose to donate some, or all of the profits of your scrap car to the Down’s Syndrome Association this month when you scrap your vehicle with Scrap Car Comparison. Anything you can spare will make a huge difference to all of our charities and to find out more on how this works, view our FAQs on donating a car to charity.
