Scrap Car Comparison have chosen The Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) as our featured charity for the remainder of April.
CALM is taking a stand against suicide by providing life-saving services whilst provoking national conversation through a number of significant campaigns with high profile partners and influential figures, including Carling, EA Sports FIFA & England footballing superstar Declan Rice.
Figures provided by CALM show that 125 lives are lost each week to suicide, and that 75% of people taking their own life in the UK are male. CALM provides a platform for all to stand together and help those in need, no matter who they are, where they’re from or what they’re going through. A suicide will, on average, directly affect at least 135 people, from family and friends to colleagues, neighbours and acquaintances, and CALM is there to help anyone affected at any time.
Depression does not discriminate, and anyone can feel suicidal, meaning CALM has to be prepared to speak to anyone and everyone. From advice on their website about issues that someone might be facing; through to free, confidential chats with helpline staff, online, on the phone or via whatsapp, CALM is there for anyone who’s struggling, every single day of the year.
Scrap Car Comparison also supports the CALM All Porsche Trophy, the UK’s first carbon-balanced race series open to all Porsche models. The opening round took place over the Easter weekend at Donington Park, and you can catch the racing throughout the year across the country at Anglesey, Brands Hatch, Snetterton, Silverstone and even at Spa in Belgium. More information can be found here.
You can help contribute to the important service that CALM provides by choosing to donate through our Donate-A-Car scheme. When selling your car with Scrap Car Comparison you can choose to donate some – or even every single penny – of the profits to our featured charity. We’ve worked with some of the biggest charities in the country and raised thousands of pounds towards important work across a huge spectrum of causes. For further information on how this scheme works, we’ve put together a handy FAQ document, which can be found here.
Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) stands united against suicide with everyone in the UK. The campaign is led through vital, life-saving support, impactful conversations and collective action.
