We’re proud to be supporting the Bivol Trust this July. We’ll be raising money solely through donations from our customers to help support people with learning, and accompanying physical, difficulties in Portsmouth and the surrounding area.
Bivol Trust was formed in 1992 following project work from founder Dan Davies which took young people who were looked after by Children’s Services to Transylvania to work with a local church-based charity. This work offered broader experience of working in the caring professions but in a more challenging environment. Over a five year period between 1992 and 1996, 55 young people were taken to Zalau where they helped with building projects, orphanages, and support for a home for the elderly.
While the Trust no longer undertakes trips to Romania, it retains strong links to the region. The Bivol Trust grew with a focus on the services it currently provides in the Portsmouth area, named “Bivol” which is derived from the Romanian name for a buffalo “Bivol românesc.” and is where the logo originates from.
