Once the exciting Spanish cousin of Volkswagen, today SEAT is known as a slightly cheaper alternative to the German giants. As a result we see plenty of SEATs every year, and here’s what we’ve discovered over the past 12 months.
Most scrapped models
Given its popularity, particularly among younger drivers, there’s no surprise to see the Ibiza at the top of our most commonly scrapped charts for SEAT. The hatchback accounts for 48% of all SEATs we saw in the past 12 months, while the slightly larger Leon takes 30% meaning the two cars own over three quarters of the share of SEATs scrapped. The Altea is third with just 9% of the share, with the Alhambra taking 4% and the Exeo rounding out the top five with 2%.
Most scrapped year/average age
SEAT on the whole sits bang on average for what we’d expect to see for the average age of scrap vehicles, with most of the more popular models tending to last until they’re 16 or 17. The overall average, however does sit below the average at 15 years, but this is skewed by the Ateca and Arona, but relatively new models which will naturally bring the average down.
