We’re proud to be supporting Destination Florida for the remainder of September. We’ll be raising money solely through donations from our customers to help children facing significant challenges experience life-changing trips to Florida.
Destination Florida offers children with life-limiting and life-threatening illnesses the trip of a lifetime to Florida. Across eight days, 72 children, alongside 110 adult volunteers, from across the North of England will get to visit Florida’s premier theme parks, enjoy a pool day, a shopping day and a party evening where the friendships they make will last a lifetime. The children will want for absolutely nothing during their time away as all costs and expenses are covered by the charity.
High quality medical and pastoral care is provided throughout the time they are away through the delivery of a mobile hospital with volunteer doctors, nurses and physiotherapists. Additional adult volunteers work with the medical staff to create ‘caring teams’ which enables one to one support to be provided for each child. As it is only the children who go to Florida with the charity, it allows their families and carers to have a priceless eight days of respite, safe in the knowledge that their child will be living their absolute best lives whilst receiving the highest quality professional medical care.
The trip takes place every two years, with the next trip departing on 3rd October 2025, and costing in the region of £600,000 to fund.
